Today Salomé thanks IMG Hospital for the opportunity to tell her story.
Today our brave patient Salomé gave her testimony in the newspaper El Tiempo, where she highlighted with deep gratitude the care received at the IMG Hospital in Punta Cana. In her emotional narration, she emphasized the professionalism, speed and humane treatment she received from all the medical staff, whom we congratulate for their outstanding work. We are proud to have such a skilled and committed team, which acts with excellence in the most critical moments.
On August 27, 2024, the life of Salomé, a Colombian mother and flight attendant living in the Dominican Republic, changed completely after a tragic traffic accident on the Punta Cana - Santo Domingo highway. The injuries sustained were severe and, as a result of the impact, she lost both feet.
What followed was a race against time. At that crucial moment, the medical team of the IMG Hospital did not hesitate to act: they stabilized her, operated on her and provided her with the clinical and emotional support she needed to survive.
In her testimony published by El Tiempo, Salomé said:
"I did not choose what happened to me, but I choose to continue every day. And not because I am brave, but for my children, for my family, for me. Because, although the pain has not completely gone, neither has life. And as long as there is life, there is a path. And as long as there is a path, I will follow it.
"Today, from this new body that sustains me, I want to deeply thank the medical team at IMG Hospital Punta Cana. Their speed, expertise and humanity saved my life when the world seemed to fade away.
I do not forget the hands that operated on me, the voices that encouraged me in the midst of pain and the eyes that looked at me with hope when I had none. To every doctor, nurse and assistant: thank you for being the first to rebuild me, for not giving up on me. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to tell this story."
